Former Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou offered a unique perspective on his social media on the comparison between the Slam tournaments and the Olympic tournament. He released words that will surely divide the opinion of fans, underlining how the Slams are much more important than the Olympic tournament for a tennis player.

The Frenchman explained: “There is no real link between tennis and the Olympic Games because there is no history between them. From my point of view, any tennis player considers a Grand Slam 100 times more important for him or her than an Olympic event In most sports, the main events for which all athletes prepare are the European and World Championships, with the Olympic Games as the supreme goal.

However, in tennis we have many major tournaments every year: not just the four Grand Slams , but also the ATP Masters 1000 which largely determines the ranking.”

As we know, Olympic gold is one of the few things that Novak Djokovic failed to win and that Roger Federer failed to conquer, in singles.
