Siniakova, Townsend secure Australian Open women’s doubles title

In a gripping final on Rod Laver Arena, top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend triumphed over Hsieh Su-Wei and Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-7(4) 6-3 to claim the women’s doubles title at the 2025 Australian Open. The victory marks another milestone for the Czech-American pairing, who overcame a spirited comeback by the No.3 seeds to clinch their second Grand Slam as a duo.

For Townsend, the match held special significance as it brought her back to the court where her professional journey began. “The last time I played on this court I was 15, and in 2012 I won the juniors here and that was the kick start,” Townsend said. “Honestly, being here is so special to me because this tournament was the beginning of me being able to live out my dream.”

Siniakova, who has now won her tenth Grand Slam women’s doubles title, reflected on their hard-fought victory. “I’m happy with the way that we fought mentally and were able to fight through those tough moments and kind of overcome,” the new Joma representative noted in the champions’ press conference.
