Siniakova, Krejcikova end doubles partnership after seven Grand Slams won together

Czech players Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova, seven-time Grand Slam doubles champions and former No.1s, have confirmed that they will no longer play together.

The 27-year-olds first partnered in doubles as teenagers and won three junior Grand Slam titles together in 2013. Their dominance on the Hologic WTA Tour started with their first women’s doubles major title at the 2018 French Open. On top of achieving the No.1 ranking in doubles, they’ve completed the Career Golden Slam in the discipline, having triumphed at all four Grand Slams and the Olympics.

Together they’ve won 16 doubles titles, including three this season — the Australian Open, Indian Wells and, most recently, San Diego. At this month’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals, their last tournament together, Siniakova and Krejcikova secured a crucial victory over the American duo of Danielle Collins and Taylor Townsend to book the Czech Republic’s spot in the semifinals. The Czech pair’s last match together unfolded the following day, as they faced a defeat in the deciding doubles rubber against Leylah Fernandez and Gabriela Dabrowski, ultimately allowing Canada to advance into the final and eventually secure the tournament victory.
