The safety market has been nearly as busy as the running back market during NFL free agency thanks to a number of established veterans at the position who were released earlier in March.
The Packers had two key safeties hit free agency: Darnell Savage and Jonathan Owens. They helped fill the void by inking Xavier McKinney to a lucrative deal Monday, which allowed them to let Owens walk and join the NFC North-rival Bears the very next day.
Owens agreed to a two-year deal with Chicago, becoming the second safety addition for the Bears after they brought in former All-Pro Kevin Byard. No one was happier about the deal than Owens’ wife, legendary Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.
“CHICAGO HERE HE COMES,” Biles tweeted, after thanking the Packers and their fans for embracing her husband.

Biles described some of the perks of Owens’ move, including her excitement about Chicago being much easier to get to than Green Bay. (Biles lives and trains in Texas.)
I’m so excited about not having a connecting flight to go & see my husband hahahahaaha

“I just love the city of Chicago,” Biles continued, offering two reasons why: Pizza and hot dogs.
