Silver for 4×400 relay team at World U20 Champs – More Sport – The Women’s Game

Ella Connolly, Cara Jardine, Jemima Russell and Carley Thomas finished with a time of 3:31.36, which was over four seconds faster than their heat run and it’s the second-fastest time by an Australian U20 team at the World U20s since 1990.

“We all ran to our potential and you can’t ask for any more,” she added.

It was a tough race as the team went between the bronze and silver after Connolly’s run but on the home straight Jardine, who was passed by the Jamaican earlier on in her leg, reclaim second spot.

At one point in the race, Australia was sitting in fourth after Canada applied pressure to pass Russell as she handed the baton to Thomas. 

There was in 300m left with four teams vying for the bronze, and Jamaica challenging USA for the lead but Thomas made her move.
