You’ve probably heard us banging on about SheRACES before – and we have good reason to. Over the last few years, we’ve been reporting on the increasing gender gap within racing. SheRACES, founded by Sophie Power, has been tackling this head-on with research, campaigns and brand new events.
Their latest research suggests that a whopping 87% of women would be interested in taking part in women-only races. Despite clear demand, women-only races are shockingly thin on the ground in the UK, so SheRACES, in partnership with Ourea Events, is answering the call and launching the Women’s Trail Series in 2025. With three events across the UK and two distances (25KM and 50KM) this series is set to be a game changer when it come to getting more women running.
Why do we need women-only races?
Women, and particularly women of colour, are less likely to enter a trail race than men, and far less likely to enter longer races. Women-only races can be a way to change this.
