The USWNT title defense starts now. Not for the Olympic gold but the SheBelieves Cup. The U.S. enters the 2025 tournament as the favorite after winning the past five rounds.
The SheBelieves Cup is a four-team round robin tournament held in the U.S. every spring. The USA is a staple squad, and while opponents change each year, this year will feature Japan, Australia and Colombia. This time around, the tournament will be six matches in three days, matches held in Houston, Glendale and San Diego.
The No. 1 ranked Americans have yet to lose under Emma Hayes, and have won five straight SheBelieves titles, but they’ll be tested in February’s matches as they rematch with last year’s Olympic opponents.
There’s a lot of new faces on this roster. Teenage sensation Lily Yohannes will get her third cap of her young USWNT career, and four players – Tara McKeown, Gisele Thompson, Claire Hutton and Michelle Cooper – will make their debut in the stars and stripes.
Fans won’t see Triple Espresso return yet, however, as the trio, as well as Naomi Girma and Rose Lavelle, battle through injury and fitness levels.
