Sergio Busquets has revealed he will not play for another European club when he leaves Barcelona this summer as he doesn’t want to face his boyhood side.
The 34-year-old midfielder will leave Barcelona at the end of the season having playing his entire professional career at the Camp Nou.
Busquets has once again spoken on the possibility of playing in the United States while ruling out playing for another European team.
Speaking to Catalunya Radio, Busquets said of his future: “I don’t want to play too many more years. But it is true life in the United States is something me and my wife like a lot. But at the end we will have to value everything we have on the table.
“We have to analyse the sporting project of the club, the economic side of the proposal, quality of life… and from there we’ll make the best decision we can as a family.”
When asked if he could face Barcelona, Busquets said: “My next chapter will be away from Europe. With my age, and the career I’ve had at the club, I think it’s not needed and I’m not sure I could compete against Barcelona in any important match or trophy.”
Busquets made his final ever appearance for Barcelona on Sunday when the La Liga champions defeated Mallorca 3-0 in their last home game of the season.
