Serena Williams’ former long-time coach Patrick Mouratoglou revealed he is not sure if he would accept to coach Emma Raducanu but underlined to the Briton that she must be ready to trust someone if she wants to find stability.
Raducanu, 21, has worked with five different coaches since 2021 Wimbledon. Most recently, Raducanu hired Sebastian Sachs for the 2023 season but the two announced their split in early June – a month after the British tennis star had three surgeries.
Raducanu, who confirmed last week that her comeback would start in Auckland, hasn’t yet announced her coach for 2024. Sky Sports asked Mouratoglou – who achieved major success with Williams – if he would ever accept to work with Raducanu. “I don’t know.
I haven’t thought about it but all I can say is is she ready to trust someone? Can she trust a project and to follow that project for long enough to be able to make real progress that she needs to do in order to achieve her potential? What hurt her so much is all those changes because you cannot change your tennis project every three months, it doesn’t make sense,” Mouratoglou told Sky Sports.
