Serena Williams’ ex-coach Patrick Mouratoglou issued a bold statement on Roger Federer’s forehand as he does not believe that the Swiss tennis icon’s forehand is even the top-2 in tennis history.
Federer, a former 20-time Grand Slam champion, had a pretty special forehand as he was playing the shot with ease while making it very deadly for his rivals. Also, Federer’s forehand accuracy and precision were one of a kind and many rank the former eight-time Wimbledon champion’s forehand as the best ever in tennis history.
Mouratoglou, who worked with Williams for a decade, agrees Federer’s forehand is one of the best in tennis history but doesn’t agree that it is the best ever. On his list, Mouratoglou placed Federer’s forehand at No. 3.
“What was standing out the most with Roger’s forehand was his ability to take time away from his opponent with that shot and hurt all the time scoring an incredible number of winners, many of them with the second shot after the serve. It might sound weird but Federer’s forehand is not even in the two best of all time in my opinion,” Mouratoglou said in a video posted on his Instagram account.
