Serena Williams’ childhood coach Rick Macci is praising Coco Gauff’s work ethic as he is tipping the 19-year-old to keep trending in the right direction. After establishing herself as one of the best players in the world last year, Gauff reached another level this year as she now has a Grand Slam, a WTA 1000 and a WTA 500 title in her collection.
Also, world No 3 Gauff is now the highest-ranked American female tennis player. After concluding her 2023 season, Gauff took a short break and returned to the gym in November to kick off her preparation for the 2024 season early.
“But the one thing I love about Coco Gauff, she’s a worker, no days off, she’s going to get better. And let’s face it, the big ticket items in women’s tennis, mobility and firepower off the ground. So, I think Coco will keep getting better, but, as we know in life, so is everybody else.
And there’s new people on the block, and there’s new people coming in,” Macci told Tennis-Infinity.
