Serena Williams donates her breast milk in New York

Imagine this: Your newborn in New York might have received a power boost from none other than Serena Williams’ donated breast milk. The tennis legend, who welcomed her second daughter Adira River Ohanian in August, recently made a heartwarming gesture by donating her surplus breast milk during a visit to New York.

While in the city, Serena found herself with excess breast milk and made the thoughtful decision not to transport it home but rather to give it to infants whose mothers are unable to produce milk themselves.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion explained on Instagram:

On a recent trip to NY I had leftover breast milk. After going through a screening I was able to donate it instead of taking the milk home. I know so many amazing women that adopt or are unable to make milk. It felt amazing. BTW, someone out there is getting some super soldier milk.

“Some kids’ backhand just got stronger,” was one of humorous comments left on the tennis star’s post. Additionally, many grateful ladies thanked Serena for supporting women, normalizing pumping, and providing her ‘liquid gold’: “As a NICU mom of twins who needed donor milk while waiting for mine to come in, thank you for donating.”
