Serena Williams’ childhood coach Rick Macci thinks Coco Gauff is “not Serena” but also highlighted that he believes the 19-year-old American can win multiple Grand Slams. The moment Gauff introduced herself to the tennis world by reaching the Wimbledon round-of-16 as a 15-year-old girl in 2019, she was labeled as “the next Serena.” Four years later, Gauff is a Grand Slam champion and ranked at No 3 in the world.

Gauff has undoubtedly achieved impressive success at a very young age but she is still 22 Grand Slam wins short of reaching Williams’ 23 Grand Slams. “Coco, the best female athlete on the tour. She’s an Olympic sprinter with a racket in her hand.

So, she’s not Serena, but she can win some Grand Slams,” Macci said on the Match Point Canada podcast.
