The second day of the NCAA women’s Sweet 16 is underway, with Maryland topping Notre Dame to kick off the action Saturday.

Maryland defeats Notre Dame, advances to Elite Eight
Diamond Miller lauded Maryland’s resilience in a postgame broadcast interview. It was a quality that carried the Terrapins into the Elite Eight for the first time since 2015 with a 76-59 victory against Notre Dame.
Miller had only four points in the first half and struggled shooting as Notre Dame concentrated on shutting her down. But she found ways to adjust after halftime, when she poured in 14 more points to change the game’s course. Sophomore Shyanne Sellers similarly found her groove and finished with 18 total points as well, helping the Terrapins overcome a 32-21 halftime deficit.
Maryland will play the winner of the other Sweet 16 game in Greenville between South Carolina or UCLA.
The Terrapins harassed Notre Dame into 25 turnovers and held the Irish to only 2-of-10 3-point shooting.
