Sanaa Lathan showed her support for women’s college basketball over the weekend.
Attending the anticipated USC vs UCLA matchup, the actress received a warm welcome as she was shown on the jumbotron during the game. One of Lathan’s most popular roles, of course, is the 2000 film “Love & Basketball,” where she portrayed USC basketball player Monica Wright. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood in her feature film debut, “Love & Basketball” sees Lathan starring alongside Omar Epps as two lifelong basketball players who are in a relationship.
Upon its release, the film received positive reviews from critics, and has since developed something of a cult-classic following, eventually being selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally historically or aesthetically significant,” in 2023.

In the years since, Lathan has frequently shown support for USC women’s basketball, regularly showing up at games. Her latest appearance excited USC basketball star JuJu Watkins, who wrote via X, “I’m so fanned out right now.”
