Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday the university is aware of an incident involving wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who allegedly struck a female Tennessee football fan as he exited the field after Saturday’s loss at Neyland Stadium.
On Tuesday, Emily Isaacs posted a video on TikTok that appears to show Burton striking a woman in the head as he walks off the field. Isaacs says she is the woman in the video, captioning it: “Jermaine Burton smacking me in the head while walking past him after their loss Saturday.”
Isaacs, a Tennessee fan, was heading to join the Vols’ celebration on the field when Burton appeared to strike her. He then left the field and went into Alabama’s tunnel.
“We are aware of the situation with Jermaine Burton as he was exiting the field Saturday. We are currently working to gather more information,” Saban said in a statement.
Burton, a junior transfer from Georgia, had two receptions for 49 yards in the Crimson Tide’s 52-49 loss at Tennessee.
