LPGA rookie Rose Zhang made her professional debut with a 54-hole lead at the Mizuho Americas Open on Saturday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Zhang shot a 6-under 66 in her third round, with six birdies on her card to zero bogeys.
- The 20-year-old American has a two-shot lead over Atthaya Thitikul, Aditi Ashok and Cheyenne Knight.
- With a win Sunday at Liberty National, Zhang would join Beverly Hanson (1951) as women golfers to win their pro debuts.

Backstory
Zhang was born in Arcadia, Calif. and later attended Stanford University, where she became a two-time NCAA champion. She is the first female golfer to win consecutive NCAA individual titles.
Zhang won the 2020 U.S. Women’s Amateur at 17, ascending to No. 1-ranked women’s amateur in September 2020. She won 12 of 20 college tournaments and claimed the 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April.
Zhang turned pro on May 26.
