When you first sign up for a goal race that’s months away, it can seem like a distant dream. As the weeks and miles click by, you know it’s drawing closer. Still, the vision of that red-letter day on the calendar feels foggy.
But before you know it, you’ve reached the final weeks of training, then the taper. The race that’s been a mere idea for so long has become a reality. It’s time to take stock of your goals and finalize the details of your race-day experience.
That’s where I find myself now, on the eve of the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials, taking place on Feb. 3 in Orlando, Florida. Back when we started this series in July, it seemed like there was so much time….
