The West region may consist of just two states, but those two states make up some of the best teams in the country. In this week’s Regional Rankings, we take a look at the best of the best in California and Hawaii as of Monday, October 9.

1. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California)
Record: 33-2
Impact Wins: Rouse (TX), Boswell (TX), Highland Park (TX), Cathedral Catholic, Prestonwood Christian, Foothill, Redondo Union, Chaparral, Beckman, Jserra Catholic (x2), Xavier College Prep (AZ), Assumption (KY), Sierra Canyon, Mira Costa
Notes: Mater Dei tops the region thanks to a big weekend at the Durango Classic last month, and a current 13 game winning streak. The Monarchs marched their way through the competition in Las Vegas, defeating a plethora of top teams including Kentucky’s Assumption, Sierra Canyon, and Mira Costa all just in bracket play! In the final, senior Isabel Clark clocked in and went to work, scoring 14 kills and 8 digs in three sets to hoist the hardware.
