During the morning, Abbey Harkin, who is making her senior debut, swam a personal best time in the women’s 200m individual medley to qualify sixth fastest for the final, joining Emily Seebohm who qualified in eighth spot.

“I had a race on day one and had a bit of a break, so to get back up this morning and do a massive PB I was really happy,” Harkin said.

“It was a massive goal of mine to get to swim at these championships, but to also make the final I’m just so stoked.”

In the final, Harkin touched in at seventh while Seebohm finished just ahead in sixth.

After claiming a silver in the 50m butterfly last night, Holly Barratt adds to her collection with a bronze medal in the women’s 50m backstroke.

It was her second race of the night after swimming a personal best in the 50m freestyle to qualify for the final. 

“I am very happy with that race. It was right after my freestyle semi-final and all I was focussing on was holding together a good race when I was going to be a bit tired,” Barratt said.

“I wasn’t thinking about medals beforehand, I just wanted to execute the race well and do the skills…
