Sorry, Mitchell Friedman, you didn’t make this list, but baseball fans will eternally think of you every time they look at a team’s spring training roster and realize they haven’t heard of most of those guys. Such is your lot in baseball movie life.
Today, on the 34th anniversary of the release of the iconic baseball movie “Major League,” we’re doing something a little different. We’re ranking the 10 best characters in the movie.
Why? Because why not, pretty much.

10. Clu Haywood
For so many of us baseball fans, Haywood is the perfect baseball villain. He’s a physically imposing human being (and we’re not even talking about the party-favor nose hairs) who is just the right combination of disgusting and intimidating. I remember being blown away when I learned that the actor who played Haywood was not only a former major leaguer (Pete Vuckovich), but a major leaguer who was a pitcher and won a Cy Young award. Watching Vuckovich/Haywood crush one toward South America (did Tomlinson ever get that visa?) is the best argument against the DH that I could imagine.
