Raiders have clear preference between Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnold, NFL Draft QBs

The Las Vegas Raiders’ search for their next starting quarterback is well underway, and it appears the team has a clear preference between the ones that are available, whether that be via trade, free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft.

Rumors have been swirling lately that the Raiders are in pursuit of Los Angeles Rams veteran quarterback, Matthew Stafford, who was recently given permission to seek a trade as the two sides are in standoff over his contract.

According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, Stafford is at the top of the list of options for Las Vegas this offseason and speculates that Stafford and his wife, Kelly, could prefer the Raiders to another interested party, the New York Giants.

On top of that, Tafur adds that Las Vegas is “lukewarm” on Sam Darnold, other free-agent quarterbacks and the top signal-callers in the draft.

“One reason Raiders are pushing for Stafford is they’re lukewarm on Sam Darnold, the other free agents and top of draft class,” Tafur reported. “Stafford and his wife may prefer Las Vegas over NY.”
