‘Rafael Nadal’s foot seems to be…’, says 3-time Grand Slam champion

Hopes of seeing Rafael Nadal again in Acapulco have vanished. Although the Spanish player himself had already revealed during his exhibition tour of Latin America held at the end of 2022, that he was not scheduled to play the Mexican ATP 500 in its 30th edition, fans expected to see him defending the title he won at the opening of his new complex.

But it won’t be possible. At first it was believed that the decision was related to his agenda. With the Spaniard’s physique burdened by a series of injuries in recent months, it was thought that he would limit his tournaments and play very few during the season, especially beyond the Masters 1000 and Grand Slams.

Well, it hasn’t been like that. The Dubai ATP 500 organization confirmed the presence of the top Grand Slam winner for its next edition. “Guess who is back. Rafael Nadal, the world No. 2 and one of the best men’s players in tennis history, returns to Dubai next month for the first time since 2008,” the tournament organization wrote on its Twitter account.

In recent years, the Acapulco Open and the Dubai Open have fought over the big stars of the circuit. Some years there and others here, but the fact of coinciding on the same date takes its toll. It should be noted that Nadal has already won the Dubai tournament.
