Dayana Yastremska achieved a historic feat by becoming the first qualifier since 1978 to advance to the semifinals of the Australian Open. Her remarkable journey unfolded with a convincing 6-3 6-4 victory over Czech teenager Linda Noskova.
Securing her eighth consecutive victory in Melbourne, the 98th-ranked Yastremska distinguished herself as just the second qualifier in the Open Era to advance to the Grand Slam tournament’s semifinals, a feat previously achieved only by Christine Dorey in the 1978 edition.
