PWHL jerseys unveiled; designs temporary for Year 1, per source

The Professional Women’s Hockey League has unveiled the jerseys its original six teams will wear for the inaugural season. These jerseys are temporary for Year 1, while logos and team names are finalized, according to a league source.

Teams in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, New York, Boston and Minnesota will wear jerseys with individual color schemes and the name of their market diagonally across the sweater. Each team will have two jerseys for home (dark colors) and away (light colors) games. According to the league’s press release, Canadian teams will have a Canadian Tire Corporation — the league’s founding partner — shoulder patch.

There are no logos, or team names on the jerseys; as previously reported by The Athletic in October there was no guarantee any of the six teams will have team names or logos by opening night due to time constraints.

Last month, PWHL Holdings, LLC filed trademark applications for Toronto Torch, Montreal Echo, Ottawa Alert, Minnesota Superior, Boston Wicked and New York Sound with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The league has also filed trademark applications for PWHL Toronto, PWHL Ottawa, PWHL Montreal, PWHL Minnesota, PWHL Boston and PWHL New York.
