The first free-agency period for the Professional Women’s Hockey League is underway.
A 10-day signing window officially opened on Friday afternoon. At this time, each team is eligible to sign up to three players ahead of the PWHL Draft on Sept. 18. Current or graduating players from NCAA or Canadian university programs are not eligible to sign during this preliminary free-agency period.
It is expected that we will see the game’s biggest stars — like Marie-Philip Poulin and Hilary Knight — sign the first contracts in PWHL history.
This story will be updated as signings are announced this week before the end of free agency on Sept. 10.
