At one point, JP Dellacamera marveled at the 3-0 scoreline between NJ/NY Gotham FC and the North Carolina Courage over the weekend.

“Over the years, I’ve done several games featuring North Carolina,” remarked the broadcaster, now in his fifth decade calling soccer games. “I can’t remember them trailing by a scoreline like this.”

Since head coach Sean Nahas assumed his post nearly four years ago, the Courage have lost by three goals on four different occasions. Two of them occurred just last year. Brianna Pinto‘s garbage-time goal in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time saved the Courage from adding a fifth game to this ignominious ledger, but until that moment, there was little reason to believe the Courage could avoid it.
