Ryan Fox will contest the PGA Championship this week after earning his spot with a 50-foot chip to win the Myrtle Beach Classic in a three-way play-off.
The 38-year-old New Zealander won his first US PGA Tour title in 68 attempts after beating Harry Higgs and Mackenzie Hughes, who also finished at 15 under.
Fox, son of World Cup-winning All Black rugby union player Grant, said: “To have the wife and kids here is amazing. In this game, you don’t get to win very often. You don’t get job security very often either.
“It feels like a monkey off my back, that’s for sure.”
