Paula Badosa’s career is reborn in Washington

“It’s been a while, a long time for sure. At this moment I would say that it is the most special title of my career. Being able to play at this level again and win a title like this means a lot to me. After everything I’ve been through, I didn’t know if I could continue my career or not, I was fighting with all the pain I had in my body, I just wanted to prove people wrong.

This pushed me to do my best, especially in the final, where I really wanted the title. I’m happy to have managed my emotions and finally achieved victory.” Paula Badosa’s career was reborn in Washington. She also confirmed it herself at the press conference after her triumph at the Citi DC Open.

Since that 2022, in which the Spanish tennis player won her third WTA title in Sydney and was ranked 2nd in the WTA ranking, it seems like a lifetime has passed.

The stress fracture to her spine, suffered in 2023, had put an end to her season, causing her to plummet in the rankings.
