“It’s a very complicated injury, it makes itself felt every day. I’ve spoken to players who have experienced something similar: some have had to retire, others can continue in some way. I continue to give myself the injections to feel better and the pain goes away. I can’t give you more information, because not even doctors know the perfect solution.”
Paula Badosa, who reached the 2nd position in the WTA ranking in 2022, talked about the severity of her injuriy, during the Roland Garros media day, admitting that her career may not last too long because there is no real solution. Only regular cortisone injections allow her to carry on and somehow tolerate the pain.
The chronic back problems, which then led to a stress fracture, are a very disabling problem for the Spaniard, who no longer seems to be able to express her best tennis. The WTA 1000 in Rome, where she made it all the way to the round of 16, may give Badosa a little extra confidence.
