Patrick Mouratoglou ranks Roger Federer’s slice backhand at No 1 in men’s tennis

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou has ranked Roger Federer’s slice backhand at No 1 in men’s tennis history. Mouratoglou, who famously coached Serena Williams for a decade, revealed his top-3 all-time slice backhands in men’s tennis.

Patrick Rafter, a former two-time US Open champion, had the honor to find himself at No 3 on Mouratoglou’s list. At No 2, Mouratoglou placed Stefan Edberg – a former six-time Grand Slam champion who was well-known for his volleying and slicing skills.

“Let’s talk about the best slice backhands of all time and let’s start on the men’s side. No 3 Pat Rafter, Pat had a slow slice without much consistency but it was always deep and thanks to it he was able to create a lot of short balls from the opponent that he could use to charge the net.

No 2 Stefan Edberg. At his best, he was the master of slice and he was using it a lot to approach the net. No 1 Roger Federer. He had the best slice backhand because his slice was low, it was fast and he mastered the short cross court slice,” Mouratoglou explained in a video uploaded on his Instagram account.
