Paige Bueckers returned to Connecticut on Tuesday night for her first WNBA game in the state where she left such a large college legacy.
It was a great homecoming of sorts, as the Dallas Wings rolled while Bueckers put up big numbers and a WNBA record.
Bueckers’ final stats on the night looked like this:
- 21 points
- 5 rebounds
- 7 assists
- 2 steals
- 1 block
- 8-10 FG (0-1 3FG)
- 5-6 FT
Bueckers was in attack mode all night and could hardly be stopped.
In the process, she became the first player in WNBA history to reach 60 points and 30 assists through the first five games of a career.
This goes down as Bueckers’ best game by far so far in the professional ranks. Her shooting efficiency was the main story, and it’s what got her to her career-high point total.
She’s now averaging 1.8 steals per game, an impressive rate. Her scoring average is 14.6 points per game, and she now is dishing out 6.4 assists a night.
Bueckers showed at UConn that she can do it all, and now back in Connecticut in a 109-87 win over the Sun, Bueckers showed that her ability certainly translates to the WNBA.
