On Bueckers’ Instagram, she posted a video of herself going blonde as part of her Big East prep. As March Madness nears, the Huskies are ranked No. 3 behind Texas and Southern Cal.
In the video on Bueckers’ Instagram, she says, “I wanted a blonde that’s as cool and iconic as UConn fans, and this is it. It makes me confident, bold, unstoppable on and off the court. This shade is everything.”
Bueckers’ teammate Azzi Fudd, a graduate student guard, stands by her side in the video, which also flashes some of the fan name nominations — including “Husky Heatwave,” “P’s Golden Glow,” “Pure Paige Blonde,” “3-Point Platinum” and “Gold Buckets,” a nod to the player’s nickname, “Paige Buckets.”
UConn’s women’s team next plays the Creighton Bluejays on 7 pm, Monday, March 10. The team is ranked first its conference, Big East.
Bueckers was ranked No. 1 in her 2020 recruiting class by ESPN, and won National High School Player of the Year. The now-senior is known as a tireless player, and she’s won Big East Player of the Year three times.
