18,866 runners took to the streets of London on Sunday for this year’s London Landmarks Half Marathon, making 2024 its biggest year so far.
The popular race takes runners past some of London’s most iconic sights, including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral and Nelson’s Column.
It’s fast becoming a hugely popular half marathon for UK runners, raising a total of £50 million for charity since its inception in 2014.
The event began 10 years ago when pregnancy and baby loss charity Tommy’s decided that launching a mass participation race was their best bet for increasing fundraising – and their initiative worked. The race has become larger every year and generated almost £12 million for different charities, including Tommy’s, this year alone.
There were also plenty of celebrity runners on the start line this year, with a lot of them raising money for charity. TV presenter Dermot O’Leary ran for CoppaFeel!, sports broadcaster Gabby Logan took on the half for Muscular Dystrophy UK and reality star Vicky Pattison for Cotswold Dog and Cat Home.
