GAMBIER, Ohio — The 2022-23 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Teams, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Tuesday, the organization announced the NCAA Division III award winners, including Kenyon College student-athletes Katie Orefice and Megan Lieb.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete had to be a starter or important reserve who played in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.The student-athlete had to be on the team’s active roster for at least two seasons and, most importantly, had to possess at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Orefice, a senior guard, has been the Owls leader on the court. She started all 25 games this year and tops the team’s statistical charts for scoring (14.6 ppg), assists (86) and steals (40). She also leads the team in free throws (82) and ranks third in rebounding (6.3 rpg). She was a 2021-22 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) second-team honoree and a two-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.
