Over 590 athletes will represent the stars and stripes over in Paris when the 2024 Summer Olympics gets underway. The Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday, July 26, although some members of Team USA will already be competing for gold since men’s rugby and men’s soccer start their medal pushes on Wednesday, July 24. Team USA dominated the medal count at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo and led all countries with 39 golds. Two of those gold medals were won by Katie Ledecky, who holds the world record in the women’s 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle. Ledecky, who has seven gold medals total, will compete in both of those events along with the 400-meter freestyle and 4×200-meter relay at the 2024 Olympic Games.
