Ons Jabeur is reminding tennis players that there is no reason to hold grudges or feel animosity toward others just because of a tennis match. Jabeur, 28, has been on the Tour for a long time and the Tunisian is now noticing something that she is not a fan of.
According to Jabeur, some players tend to turn their back and refuse to even say a simple hi in the locker room or a tournament site. When it comes to Jabeur, she would not have a problem with going out for a dinner with her opponent after a match.
Jabeur: Sometimes tennis players forget we are just human beings
“I mean, sometimes tennis players, we forget that we are human beings and this is just a tournament, this is just tennis, you know. Sometimes they take it personally, they take all the matches with them and they probably don’t say hi or something.
For me, it’s like, okay, the match is done, we can joke about it, we can go out for dinner. Not all players, of course, but I feel like you know hopefully it is going to change. I feel like love and peace should be everywhere.
You can see that there are worse things going on in this life. We are fortunate that we have food and a place to sleep and we are lucky to travel all over the world, so I don’t feel like we need to complicate this and just smile and be happy…
