Ons Jabeur, 28, has expressed hope to at least become a Grand Slam champion at Wimbledon after a very disappointing end to her French Open run. Jabeur, ranked at No 7 in the world, suffered a surprise defeat in the French Open quarterfinal as 14th-ranked Beatriz Haddad Maia recovered from a set down to beat the Tunisian 3-6 7-6 (5) 6-1.
Jabeur, who made two Grand Slam finals last year, was feeling good at Roland Garros and targeting to land her maiden Major title. Jabeur made a very good start to her match against Haddad Maia but then lost a very tight second set and the match eventually.
Now, Jabeur will turn her focus on the grass season.
Jabeur hopes to accomplish her biggest dream at Wimbledon
“I’m hoping to go and get the title really in Wimbledon. I’m dreaming about it. It’s something that I always wanted.
Last year was unfortunate because I was very close. When I put something in my mind, I know I can do it, so it’s definitely here. To be honest with you, I want to enjoy playing on grass because I do enjoy a lot. I think I could be ready because physically you put a lot of effort on clay than grass.
I think maybe that was my preseason in Roland Garros…
