Olympics track and field schedule today: Times, TV channels, live streams for Thursday’s events

Olympic track and field competition kicks off in earnest Friday with a full slate of events. 

Several marquee names will be in action from the beginning. U.S. sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson makes her Olympic debut in the 100 meters heats while Tokyo Games discus champion Valarie Allman begins her title defense and two-time shot put gold medalist Ryan Crouser goes for the three-peat. 

Other USA stars set to compete Friday include decathletes Zach Ziemek, Harrison Williams and Heath Baldwin, along with Vashti Cunningham (women’s high jump), Keturah Orji (women’s triple jump) and Nia Akins (women’s 800m).

The lone medal event on tap is the men’s 10,000 meters, with world record holder Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda leading the field after taking silver in the 10K and gold in the 5,000 in Tokyo.
