Noah Lyles talks the talk, but he also walks the walk.
After staring down one of his opponents after finishing second in the 100-meter semifinals, the American sprinter came back with vengeance in the final, winning his first Olympic gold medal.
Now, Lyles aims to go two-for-two in individual events with the 200-meter final on Thursday. The sprint is one of the headliners for Day 7 of track and field at the 2024 Olympics and is Lyles’ best event. He owns the third-fastest time in the world for the 200-meter, previously clocking in a finish at 19.31 seconds. He can complete his quest for double gold today.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is also ready to compete for gold. The American track and field star is set for a showdown against the Netherlands’ Femke Bol in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. McLaughlin-Levrone not only is the defending gold medalist from Tokyo but also set the world record in the 400-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic trials earlier this year.
Elsewhere, medals will be awarded in women’s long jump, men’s javelin and men’s 110-meter hurdles, with the latter closing out the day at Stade de France.
