Basketball fans should be gearing up for a busy summer.
Once the dust settles from the NBA Finals and NBA Draft, focus will quickly shift to the Olympic Games in Paris. In 2024, the Olympics will feature 3×3 and 5×5 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments for the second time ever.
The 5×5 men’s basketball tournament is headlined by the four-time defending champion United States Men’s National Team, Australia’s Boomers, Team Canada and France, the host nation which could see phenom Victor Wembanyama take the floor for his Olympic debut.
With eight of the 12 Olympic basketball tournament spots claimed, the next step is learning the groups each known team will participate in. The Sporting News is tracking live updates from March 19’s Olympic basketball draw, a major step for each team to determine their path to medalling in Paris.
