Four competitions remain in Olympic women’s gymnastics. It’s a time for the best of the best to show off their specialties in event finals. First up: vault.
Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade will go for her second straight gold on the event, but it won’t come so easily so the all-around silver medalist. Simone Biles is back, this time likely pulling off her eponymous Yurchenko double pike. The skill is so difficult that few can catch up to the American’s score. But if anyone can, it’s Andrade.
So, the fight for a bronze is underway. The favorite to complete the podium is Jade Carey. When stuck, the American has one of the best vaults in the world. She qualified third for the finals, but others like Yeo Seojeong and An Chang Ok can pull off the upset if the conditions are right.
