Olivia Moultrie scored her first goal for the U.S. women’s national team on Tuesday against the Dominican Republic during the team’s first CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage match.
It was the 18-year-old’s third cap for the United States, playing as a forward in a 3-2-4-1 formation underneath Sophia Smith. In the eighth minute, Moultrie finished the ball one time from a great touch by Smith. The touch dinked past the defender and right into Moultrie’s path directly in front of the goal. Overall, the U.S. dominated the opening ten minutes, pressing high against the Dominican Republic on a waterlogged field at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
