An elimination matchup in the 2025 Women’s College World Series has arrived.

Both Oregon and Ole Miss lost in their opening-round matchups in Oklahoma City on Thursday, with the Ducks falling 4-2 to UCLA and the Rebels getting shut out 1-0 against Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady. Now, in a double-elimination bracket, two of the losing squads from Thursday’s games will meet with their backs against the wall Friday night.

With the winner keeping their title dreams alive, emotions will be running high as the stakes are raised between the Ducks and Rebels. For Oregon, it owns one of the most balanced rosters in college softball — from an offense that’s hitting .350 (fourth in NCAA) with 85 home runs (tied for 10th in NCAA) this season to a pitching staff that’s posted a 2.40 team ERA (eighth in NCAA), there’s still plenty of reasons to believe the Ducks can rally in the WCWS.

Ole Miss, meanwhile, sits at 42-20 overall on its season after mustering up just two hits against Texas Tech on Thursday.
