Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff charged with DUI

Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff was charged with driving under the influence last week in Dublin, Ohio, according to an arrest report obtained by The Athletic.

On May 6, Dublin police were dispatched after a vehicle reportedly drove recklessly through a local neighborhood. The vehicle struck several curbs and drove through the lawn of a residence, per the report. When officers arrived on the scene, McGuff was in the driver’s seat, and the car was parked partially off the driveway and in the yard.

When asked where he was coming from, McGruff told an officer, “I live here,” pointing to his home. When asked again, McGuff eventually said he was coming from a dinner, and added that he didn’t have anything to drink and had not taken any medications, according to the report.

McGuff, coming off his 12th season as Ohio State’s coach, failed three in-car tests. One of the tests included the officer asking McGuff to say the alphabet from letter D to letter R without singing, and despite the instructions being repeated three times, McGuff could not recite any letters other than D, the report said.

McGuff agreed to step out of the car to do more tests with the officer but later refused to provide a breath sample, the arresting officer stated.
