Off-White, best known for its killer streetwear apparel, and sell-out sneakers has now delved into the world of women’s sports. It isn’t often that luxury brands design competition wear for athletes, that is, outside of tennis and golfing of course. Perhaps most luxury brands are a bit too conventional to collaborate with a boxing athlete. Not Off-White, if any brand were to undertake this assignment and kill it, it would be Off-White. So, here you have it, the bespoke Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh boxing kit for Ramla Ali.
Ramla Ali is a Somali-British professional boxer who competes in the bantamweight division. She is known for her aggressive style and demeanour. She has won several amateur and professional titles. To date, Ramla is undefeated, with a total of 7 wins and 0 losses. Off-White designed the boxing kit for Ramla Ali, as a collaboration between the brand and Ali. The boxing kit was created to celebrate Ali’s journey and achievements in the sport, as well as to promote inclusiveness and diversity in the fashion industry. The collaboration between Off-White and Ali was part of the brand’s efforts to support up-and-coming talent in various fields and to showcase the talents of individuals who are making a positive impact in the world.
Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh for Ramla Ali
Off-White is a luxury fashion brand founded by the late designer Virgil Abloh. The brand has designed a custom boxing kit for Ramla Ali, which features the Off-White signature logo along with the words “RAMLA” in bold black letters. The design of the kit is meant to be both functional and stylish and has been well-received by fans of both boxing and fashion. The custom Off-White boxing kit represents a collaboration between two industries, showcasing the crossover appeal of both sports and fashion.
Ramla Ali is expected to wear the Off-White boxing kit during her professional boxing matches. Her first professional title fight of the year will take place on February 4th, 2023. Ramla will wear the bespoke trunks and robe in the ring while she competes against other fighters. The undefeated fighter will face off against Avril Mathie for the IBF Intercontinental Super Bantamweight Title, taking place at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The custom-made kit will serve as both a uniform and a statement piece, representing both her as a fighter and her partnership with the luxury fashion brand Off-White.
The Details
The trunks are made of high-quality, lightweight fabric and feature Off-White’s signature diagonal stripes in bright yellow. The waistband is also emblazoned with the Off-White logo. The matching robe is long and has a hood, making it ideal for use before and after fights. The front of the robe is decorated with the Off-White logo and the word “RAMLA”, in bold black letters. The sleeves feature blue cuffs and the word “CHINGONA”. Chingona is arguably the most important and bespoke detail of this entire kit. Ramla describes Chingona as a nickname she picked up during her time training in Los Angeles. Chingona is Mexican slang for badass. I couldn’t think of a more fitting nickname.
