Since spring 2022, players and fans have been eager to watch the Oakland Soul Soccer Club step out onto the USL W League pitch beginning this year. The team seems to be having a season of success in their inaugural season–they’re second in the standing in the Nor Cal Divison. What’s more, their first-ever head coach, Jessica Clinton, has a fiery passion for supporting her players and uplifting the club’s mission.
About Oakland Soul
The announcement of the team in spring 2022 provided a club for female soccer players in the Bay Area to participate in the USL W League. While at a glimpse, it may seem like another of the 44 clubs across the country, what they stand for sets them apart.
Before even partaking in the league, Oakland Soul had already contributed to using their platform to promote activism and local artists in the Bay Area. For this club, it is not only about winning but doing it for the social good. It actively provides more female soccer players opportunities and contributes to gender inclusivity.
The team has already sold out multiple games and has been holding successful theme nights such as Pride Night.
