The 2024 NWSL season will go down in the history books. The Orlando Pride will dominate most of the pages whenever we revisit this time, but plenty of teams took leaps to elevate their club profiles. While the Pride put the NWSL Championship in their trophy cabinet, NJ/NY Gotham FC claimed the Challenge Cup and Kansas City Current claimed the Summer Cup. A new expanded playoff format showcased the parity of the league once more.
It’s officially offseason, which means clubs will be active in the free agency market, and figure out other ways to ensure that they remain competitive for the upcoming 2025 season. For now, teams will compete within a different type of picture, to sustain or rebuild themselves for future playoff contention. Some rosters are in better positions than others but it’s early in the offseason for things to change ahead of preseason.
