NWSL stars and fans alike are readying for the upcoming season, which is set to begin March 25, but also wondering one thing: where is the schedule?
With the season right around the corner, the league is expected to announce the schedule in mid-February. Some have pointed out that the lateness of the schedule makes it harder to sell things like season tickets.
“A March 25 start date GUARANTEES the teams are leaving money on the table,” wrote The Athletic’s Meg Linehan. “This isn’t a vacuum – people will go to other things if they don’t know when games are!
“We would like to invest many thousands of dollars to cover this league and cover it well but I have no idea when I can fit Portland into my schedule that is already full of other things!”
OL Reign star Megan Rapinoe pointed fun at the lack of schedule, posting a photo to her story featuring a “Missing” milk carton featuring the NWSL logo.
And Alex Morgan in speaking with CBS Sports, joked about wondering where the schedule is.
