NWSL, Gotham FC, Pride, NWSLPA address ‘incident involving hateful language’ directed at Barbra Banda

The NWSL, Gotham FC, Orlando Pride and the National Women’s Soccer League Players Association addressed “an incident involving hateful language at Barbra Banda,” in statements released Monday. The incident occurred during the Orlando Pride’s 2-0 win over Gotham FC on Sunday at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

“We are united in our message: this behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our league or in our stadiums,” the NWSL statement reads. The same sentiment is echoed by Gotham’s and Orlando’s posts.

“Stadium security swiftly responded to the incident once it was reported and directly addressed the individual, monitoring the situation for the remainder of the match. Gotham FC and the NWSL are working together to further investigate the incident and take additional action where appropriate under the league’s Fan Code of Conduct,” Gotham’s statement said.
